Full Body Harness Supplier in UAE and Dubai

Border Safety Wears supplies fall arrest and rescue equipment to building contractors, MEP and maintenance teams, and confined space crews. Each product page lists its EN standard and working limits, so the safety officer can check them against the method statement before the order goes in.

Fall protection standards to check

A fall arrest system is only as strong as its weakest part: anchor, connector, lanyard or retractable device, and harness. Most UAE consultants and main contractors specify European EN standards, and each part has its own.

StandardCoversWhat to check
EN 361Full body harnessesFall arrest attachment points, marked "A"
EN 358Work positioning and restraintSide positioning points; not a fall arrest system on its own
EN 355Energy absorbers in lanyardsTotal length with connectors no more than 2 m
EN 360Retractable fall arrestersLine length, maximum user load, arrest distance
EN 795Anchor devices, fixed or transportableAnchor type and number of users
EN 1496Rescue lifting devicesRated load and lifting distance

A harness certified to both EN 361 and EN 358, like the BFH 0400, is intended for fall arrest and for work positioning, where the worker leans back into the system to keep both hands free, for example when fixing rebar or working on a pole. Positioning is not fall arrest, so a separate fall arrest line is still needed wherever a fall can happen.

Also check fall clearance. Even a retractable arrester that stops a fall within 2 m needs clear space below for that distance, harness stretch and the worker's own height. The maximum user load includes tools and equipment carried, which matters with a 100 kg rating.

Harness care in Gulf heat, sun and sand

Polyester webbing weakens with long UV exposure, so keep harnesses in a shaded, ventilated store, not on open scaffolds or in a parked pickup. Summer sweat leaves salt in the webbing: wash with mild soap and water and dry in the shade, never on a hot surface. Sand gets into retractable units and connectors, so wipe them down and check that the line pulls out and retracts fully and the brake locks before each use. Any harness or arrester that has stopped a fall must be taken out of service until a competent person has inspected it.

Bulk supply across the UAE, GCC and Africa

Border PPE Trading LLC has supplied PPE since 2006. You can see stock at our showroom at Baniyas Square Metro Station, Exit 1, behind Mount Royal Hotel, or send your list through the Add to quote button or WhatsApp on +971 54 446 7693. Work at height also needs a helmet with a chin strap, grip and footwear: see safety helmets, safety gloves and safety shoes. For site briefings, read toolbox talk topics for UAE construction sites and 10 essential PPE items for construction workers in the UAE.

Fall Protection: frequently asked questions

What is EN 361 for a full body harness?
EN 361 is the European standard for full body harnesses used in personal fall arrest systems. It covers design, strength and marking, and the fall arrest attachment points on a compliant harness are marked with the letter A. Check the label on the harness itself, not only the paperwork.
When is fall protection required on UAE sites?
Fall protection is needed wherever a worker can fall from height, such as at open edges, floor openings, scaffolds, roofs and ladders. The exact trigger height is set by the project HSE plan and the local authority's OSH rules, and many sites apply it from about 2 m. Collective protection such as guardrails comes first, with harnesses used where those are not practical.
What is the difference between a full body harness and a safety belt?
A full body harness spreads the force of a fall across the thighs, pelvis, chest and shoulders and is the only body holding device allowed for fall arrest. A work positioning or restraint belt to EN 358 holds the worker in place or stops them reaching an edge, but must not be used to arrest a fall.
How often should a safety harness be inspected or replaced?
The user should check the harness before every use. EN 365 calls for a detailed examination by a competent person at least every 12 months, and many UAE sites do it every 6 months because of heat and UV. Replace a harness after any fall, or if the webbing is cut, burned, faded or stiff, or the stitching is damaged.
When should I use a retractable fall arrester instead of a lanyard?
A retractable fall arrester to EN 360 is useful where the worker moves around below an overhead anchor, or where there is not enough clearance for a lanyard with an energy absorber, because it locks quickly and keeps fall distance short. Check the line length, maximum user load and arrest distance against the task.
What equipment is needed for confined space rescue?
A typical rescue setup is an anchor over the opening, such as a tripod to EN 795, a rescue winch or lifting device to EN 1496, and a full body harness on the entrant. The rescue plan, trained standby team and gas testing must be in place before anyone enters.
