Safety wears for oil and gas work in Nigeria
Most Nigerian enquiries come from two kinds of buyer. One is a contractor or service company in Port Harcourt, Warri or Onne that has to match a client PPE spec for flowstations, terminals, yards and pipeline work. The other is a Lagos trader who buys safety wears in volume, mixes several products in one container and sells them on. We supply both from Dubai through Border Africa.
On oil and gas jobs the first line on the list is usually fire retardant coveralls. The Tintrex Coverall BTC 4050 is 98% FR cotton with 2% antistatic fibre at 240 GSM, with a YKK metal zip and FR reflective tape. Its product data lists EN ISO 11612, EN ISO 11611, EN 1149-5, IEC 61482-2 and NFPA 2112. Where the spec calls for inherent FR instead of treated cotton, the BSW Firewing BSW 0360 uses 55% modacrylic, 43% cotton and 2% antistatic fibre at 180 GSM, certified to EN ISO 11612 and EN 1149-5.
Many RFQs from Port Harcourt say "Nomex coverall". Nomex is a fibre brand name, so send us the standard your client actually asks for and we will match it from the coverall range.
Safety boots, safety caps and the rest of the kit
Rigger boots are still the favourite on rigs and in yards. The Border Rigger Boot BFP 2020 has a cow split leather upper and PU outsole and is rated S1P under EN ISO 20345:2011, which means a 200 J steel toe cap and a penetration-resistant midsole. For wet locations and swamp jobs, an S3 lace-up such as the Stabler Ankle Plus BFP 2063 adds water resistance on the upper and a cleated sole. See all safety shoes.
For head protection, the vented BSH 1240 ratchet helmet weighs 360 g and meets ANSI/ISEA Z89.1-2014 and EN 397:2000, in five colours for crew colour coding. Add impact gloves for pipe handling, N95 and KN95 masks for dusty work, reflective safety jackets and full body harnesses to EN 361 for work at height.

Lagos, Port Harcourt, Abuja and the north
Sea cargo from Jebel Ali normally lands at Apapa or Tin Can Island in Lagos, or at Onne for buyers in Rivers State and the Onne oil and gas free zone. Port-to-port transit to Lagos typically takes three to five weeks depending on the shipping line and transhipment, and your forwarder confirms each sailing. Warri and the wider Delta are usually served by road from Onne or Lagos. Buyers in Abuja and Kano tend to clear in Lagos and truck the goods north, or send smaller urgent orders by air.
SONCAP, Form M and the papers your clearing agent needs
Imports into Nigeria run through your bank (Form M), Nigeria Customs and, for regulated products, the Standards Organisation of Nigeria's SONCAP programme. SONCAP is applied for on the importer's side through SON and its appointed agents, so we do not hold it for you. What we do provide from Dubai is the commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, and the test reports and datasheets for each line. Datasheets are also on every product page. Tell us at quotation stage which lines fall under SONCAP so the paperwork lines up with your Form M.
How an order from Dubai works
Send your list on WhatsApp or email with quantities, sizes, colours and the standard you need. We reply with a quotation, then issue a proforma invoice once you confirm. Payment is made as agreed for that order. Goods leave by sea from Jebel Ali, or by air for small and urgent loads. You can mix coveralls, boots, helmets, gloves and vests in one container, which is how most Lagos traders buy. Company logos on coveralls are available for corporate orders. If you travel to Dubai, you are welcome at our Deira showroom at Baniyas Square Metro Station, Exit 1.
Distributors and Nigerian content
Nigeria's oil and gas content law gives Nigerian companies first consideration on many contracts, so jobs for operators often need a registered Nigerian vendor on the paperwork. That is why we prefer to work through Nigerian distributors and resellers who hold the registrations and local stock, with the Border, BSW and Topsafe lines behind them. If you run a safety wears business in Lagos, Port Harcourt or Abuja and want to carry our products, send a distributor enquiry through Border Africa.
We also ship to Ghana, Kenya and Tanzania. For a Nigeria quotation, contact the Border Africa desk on +971 54 446 7693 (WhatsApp) or africa@borderppe.ae.
