Safety shoes supplier in UAE and Dubai

Border Safety Wears supplies safety footwear to contractors, factories, warehouses and kitchens from our Deira showroom in Dubai, under our own Border, BSW and TopSafe brands. Most models are S1P or S3 under EN ISO 20345, in lace-up, ankle, executive, slip-on and rigger styles, EU sizes 36 to 48 depending on model.

What we stock

  • S3 ankle shoes: Stabler Ankle Plus BFP 2063: cow split leather, steel toe cap, steel midsole and an enlarged ankle collar. EN ISO 20345:2022 S3, sizes 38 to 48.
  • Heat-resistant outsole: Shielder BFP 2013: S3 HRO with SRC slip resistance (EN ISO 20345:2011), steel toe cap and steel plate, black or brown.
  • Metal-free and light: BSW 0512: Flyknit upper, composite toe cap and Kevlar midsole, listed to EN ISO 20345:2022 S1P and ASTM F2413-11.
  • Kitchens and food plants: BSW 0515 Kitchen Safety Shoes: wipe-clean microfiber upper, composite toe cap and Kevlar midsole, EN ISO 20345:2022 S1P.
  • Rigger boots: Border BFP 2020 and BSW 0501, both S1P with steel toe cap and steel midsole.
  • Wet areas: the BFP 2900 PVC Gumboot resists oil, acid and alkali and has an anti-slip sole. It has no toe cap or midsole, so it does not replace a safety-toe boot.

S1P, S3, SB and SRC: what the markings mean

Every safety shoe under EN ISO 20345 has a toe cap tested to 200 joules impact and 15,000 N compression. The category code tells you what else it has.

CodeWhat it adds
SBBasic safety shoe: the 200 J toe cap
S1SB plus closed heel area, antistatic sole and heel energy absorption
S1PS1 plus a penetration-resistant midsole (1,100 N nail test)
S3S1P plus a water-resistant upper and a cleated outsole

SRC comes from the 2011 edition. It means the sole passed both slip tests: ceramic tile with detergent (SRA) and steel with glycerine (SRB). EN ISO 20345:2022 dropped those letters. A slip test on ceramic tile is now part of every category, and an extra SR marking shows the sole also passed on tile with glycerine. HRO, in both editions, means the outsole was tested against contact with a 300°C surface.

The 2022 edition also split penetration resistance by insert type. A metal plate stays P. Non-metal plates are marked PL (tested with a 4.5 mm nail) or PS (3 mm nail), so newer stock shows codes such as S1PL, S1PS, S3L or S3S. Border BFP 2080, with a composite toe cap and Kevlar midsole, is certified S1PL. Fuel oil resistance, once built into S1, is now an optional FO marking.

Shoes certified to the 2011 edition are still supplied while their certificates are valid. If a tender names the 2022 edition, check the marking inside the tongue before ordering.

Choosing safety shoes for Gulf conditions

  • Heat: in 50°C summers a mesh lining or knitted upper keeps feet cooler through a long shift. Composite toe caps and Kevlar plates also do not hold heat the way steel does.
  • Hot ground: asphalt, roofing and steel decks call for an HRO outsole, as on the Shielder, Solace and Desire Ankle S3 HRO models.
  • Wet or sandy sites: S1P suits dry indoor floors and warehouses. For dewatering, washdown areas or loose sand that works into mesh, an S3 leather shoe lasts longer.
  • Replacement: heat and humidity age PU soles and stitching faster, so inspect shoes for cracked soles, exposed toe caps and split uppers on a regular schedule.

Safety Shoes: frequently asked questions

What is the difference between S1P and S3 safety shoes?
Both have a 200 joule toe cap and a penetration-resistant midsole. S3 adds an upper that resists water penetration and a cleated outsole for grip on loose ground. S1P suits dry indoor work and warehouses, while S3 is the usual choice for outdoor construction, wet areas and oil and gas sites.
What does SRC mean on safety shoes?
SRC is a slip-resistance marking from EN ISO 20345:2011. It means the sole passed both the ceramic tile with detergent test (SRA) and the steel with glycerine test (SRB). Under the 2022 edition the tile test is built into every category and an extra SR marking replaces the old letters.
Is EN ISO 20345:2011 still valid, or do I need 2022 shoes?
Shoes certified to the 2011 edition are still sold while their certificates are valid, and both editions are on the market in the UAE. The 2022 edition changed the slip test, made fuel oil resistance an optional FO marking and added PL and PS codes for non-metal midsoles. If your tender or client spec names the 2022 edition, order models certified to it and check the marking inside the tongue.
Are steel toe or composite toe safety shoes better?
Both pass the same 200 joule impact and 15,000 N compression tests, so the protection level is the same. Composite toe caps are metal-free, lighter and do not conduct heat or cold like steel. Steel caps are thinner, which can give a slimmer toe shape, and many heavy-duty leather models use them.
How often should safety shoes be replaced?
EN ISO 20345 does not set a fixed replacement date. Replace shoes after any heavy impact on the toe, or when the toe cap or midsole is exposed, the sole is worn smooth or cracked, or the upper has split. Gulf heat and humidity wear PU soles faster, so inspect them regularly.
Do you supply safety shoes in bulk outside the UAE?
Yes. We deliver within 24 hours across the UAE and supply bulk orders to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait and Bahrain, with Africa served through Border Africa. Sizes run from EU 36 to 48 depending on the model, and you can check fit at our showroom in Deira, Dubai before ordering.
