Three regions, three kinds of buyer
Saudi Arabia is too big to treat as one market. A procurement officer in Jubail buying for a petrochemical shutdown, a contractor in Riyadh kitting out a new building site and a facilities company in Jeddah ordering kitchen shoes for a hotel all want different things. We ship from the UAE to all three, and the first step is always the same: tell us the job, not just the product name.
| Region | Main work | Where to start |
|---|---|---|
| Eastern Province: Dammam, Jubail, Al Khobar | Oil and gas, petrochemicals, fabrication yards, shutdowns | FR coveralls with listed standards, S3 steel toe shoes, harnesses |
| Central: Riyadh | Building construction, industrial cities, warehousing | Helmets, hi-vis vests, S1P shoes, traffic control |
| Western: Jeddah, Yanbu | Port and logistics, refining and petrochemicals in Yanbu, hospitality | FR clothing for Yanbu plants, kitchen safety shoes, coated gloves |
| North-west giga projects | Remote construction, camps, heat and dust | Full kits per worker, sealed goggles, mesh vests, masks |
Dammam, Jubail and Al Khobar
The Eastern Province is where FR clothing matters most. Plant specifications usually name a standard, so we work from the standard. The Border Tintrex Coverall BTC 4050 lists EN ISO 11612, EN ISO 11611, EN 1149-5, IEC 61482-2, NFPA 70E CAT 2 and NFPA 2112. The BSW Firewing BSW 0360 is an inherent FR modacrylic and cotton blend listed to EN ISO 11612 and EN 1149-5. See all FR and cotton coveralls.
For footwear on refinery and fabrication sites, the Stabler Ankle Plus BFP 2063 is an S3 shoe under EN ISO 20345:2022, with a steel toe cap, steel midsole, cow split leather upper and an enlarged ankle collar. It is antistatic and oil resistant. More options are in safety shoes.
Shutdown and turnaround crews also need fall protection: EN 361 harnesses such as the BFH 0400 with 45 mm polyester webbing, the BRFA 0800 retractable fall arrester (EN 360) and the BTP 0900 rescue tripod (EN 795) for confined space entry.
Riyadh and the central region
Riyadh orders are mostly construction and industrial. Building contractors buy EN 397 safety helmets by the hundred, in colours for each trade, together with reflective safety vests, S1P shoes and cotton coveralls. Road and infrastructure packages add traffic safety items: 1 m traffic cones, 90 cm traffic drums, folding barricades and solar barricade lights. Riyadh winters get cold at night, and the FR Winter Jacket BWJ 3505 covers crews who also need flame resistance.
Jeddah, Yanbu and the west coast
Yanbu's industrial city has the same refinery and petrochemical profile as Jubail, so the same FR and S3 advice applies. Jeddah is more mixed: port logistics, construction, food processing and a large hotel and facilities sector. For kitchens, the BSW 0515 kitchen safety shoe has a wipe-clean microfiber upper, composite toe cap and Kevlar midsole, rated S1P under EN ISO 20345:2022.
Giga projects in the north-west
The large developments in the NEOM area and along the Red Sea coast are remote and camp-based, with long supply lines. Order complete kits per worker, by size, rather than item by item, and order ahead of each new mobilisation. Dust and heat dominate: sealed goggles like the BSG 0402 with an EVA gasket, N95 masks, and mesh vests such as the BSVM 1920. Our sandstorm safety guide was written for UAE sites but applies just as well here.
SASO, SABER and your clearing agent
Many products, PPE included, have to be registered on SABER, the Saudi conformity platform, before they clear customs. What a given item needs depends on its HS code and the SASO technical regulation that covers it; footwear, for example, has its own regulation. Requirements change, so check SASO and SABER requirements for your shipment with your clearing agent before you order.
Border does not hold SASO or SABER certificates for your shipment; the importer and their agent apply for those. What we provide is what the agent usually asks for: datasheets, the test reports and certificates listed for each product, product photos, label details, a commercial invoice and a packing list.
How goods get to Saudi Arabia
Most orders go by road freight from the UAE through the Al Ghuwaifat and Al Batha border crossing. Larger or containerised orders can go by sea from Jebel Ali to Dammam or Jeddah, and urgent small orders by air. Transit and clearance times depend on the route, the paperwork and the season, so we confirm the lead time on each quotation rather than quote a standard figure.
